One of the South of England's most prominent centres for business, the town of Slough lies on the Western outskirts of the capital and, outside London itself, is the most ethnically diverse borough in the country.
Playing host to the Slough Trading Estate - the very first of its kind in Britain - and benefiting from extensive efficient transport links to both London and surrounding areas, the town has made a name for itself in manufacturing in the years gone by.
Nowadays, however, Slough's main stock-in-trade has shifted to more information-based business, with many of its previously busy factories being replaced by state-of-the-art office complexes. Perhaps this is why the recent critically-acclaimed BBC comedy series 'The Office' was famously based in Slough.
The town is also home to one of the major campuses of Thames Valley University.
